Creating visual weight and counterweight is part of an artist's use of the element of balance in creating a work of art. Using this element both sides of a piece of art must look exactly the same to create a sense of harmony. This includes the colors, lines, shapes, textures, canvases or any other things used in the artwork. A form of symmetry is created if done properly.
