log(7)+log(x-4)=1
log(7(x-4))=1 by the law of logarithms
ASSUMING log is to the base 10,
then by the law of logarithms, [10^log(x)=x]
7(x-4)=10^1=10
solving for x
x=(10/7)+4=38/7
