An employer may conduct an aptitude test to check for B. the capacity to acquire certain skills.
Aptitude tests are used to test your particular skills which the employer needs you to have. However, if you don't have all of those skills, the employer will want to know how fast you can acquire the skills you are lacking and whether you can do it at all.
