A water tank can be filled in 5 minutes and emptied in 8 minutes. if the drain is accidentally left open when the tank is being filled how log does it take to fill the tank

1/5   - 1/8  = 8 /5  -   5/8  = 3/8 

8/3= 2.67   
Hence, it would take 2.67 minutes to fill the tank.
