Our sweat contains a natural antibiotic called Dermcidin.

Further explanation

Sweating is the release of fluids by sweat glands onto the surface of the skin. The purpose of sweating is to maintain our body temperature within an ideal range through evaporation. This evaporation of sweat from the skin produces a cooling effect. Sweat commonly found on the palm of the hands, on the feet and underarm.

Sweat contains a natural antibiotic that controls the bacteria living on our skin. Birgit Schittek, a Researcher from Department of dermatology, University Hospital Tubingen in Germany and a team from Max-Planck Institute discovered the benefit of human sweat. The research found that sweat contains an antibiotic called Dermcidin. It kills potential pathogens, such as the bacteria E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus, and the yeast Candida albicans.

Dermcidin is a protein, which has 47 amino acids, has a broad spectrum of activity against many different bacteria. It's made only in the sweat glands. The difference between Dermcidin and other antibacterial skin is that it is produced whenever your body sweat, not when you have got inflammation.
