For this writing challenge, you are going to take on the role of a colonist in pre-Revolutionary America. You are going to pretend that you have a cousin in Great Britain who doesn't think it's such a good idea for the American colonies to seek independence. Her main argument is that the American colonies have prospered financially from their relationship to Great Britain and should be thankful. In a letter to your (fictional) cousin in Great Britain, you are going to argue that they are wrong, using specific references to the reasoning and evidence from Henry's speech or Paine's text

Dear cousin Emily I believe Delegates from each of the Thirteen Colonies met in Philadelphia in the summer of 1776 to decide the case for liberty. The goal was to convince the States that the time had come for the United Colonies to declare their independence from Mother England. so I disagree with your' opinion. I want freedom and rights not to be locked up in a cage like and animal.
