To get the answer we have to obtain single p on the LHS.
-2p-4=2      /:-2   (divide both sides by -2)
p+2=-1      /-2    (subtract 2 both sides)
p=-3 - its the answer

                                 -2p - 4 = 2

Add  4  to each side:        -2p = 6

Divide each side by  2 :      -p = 3

Multiply each side by  -1 :    p = -3
