Both poems have a similar theme like, "Still I Rise" and "Mother to Son" is about not quitting no matter how difficult life is. They both are from Africa America.

The differences of these two poems are one poem is written by a women and other is by man.  Also the poem "Still I Rise" and  "Mother to Son" are about the authors past, hard and difficult life.
