A 12 foot-ladder is resting against a wall. The base of the ladder is 2.5 feet from the base of the wall. How high up the wall will the ladder reach?

We just learned this. The formula is A squared + B squared = C squared. Plug your numbers into the equation and then square them.
A squared +B squared=C squared
2.5 squared +B squared(stands for the hieght)=12 squared
6.25+B squared=144
B squared=144-6.25
B squared=137.75 then get the square root of 137.75
B=11.7
