Explain why the sum of -8 and 2 is negative, but the sum of 8 and -2 is positive.

Answer:

Adding a negitive number to a positive number is th esame as subtracting from that number.

If you have 2 and you add -8. You are really subtracting 8 from 2. 8 is bigger then 2 so your answer will be negitive. However for the second problom, 2 is less then 8 so the answer will be possitive.
