Persuasion is the ability to argue with someone, and cause someone to do something through valid reasoning. I'd like to persuade my parents to think that I should be given gifts more often, by doing better in school, or at home. The three goals of persuasive speech are to one, convince your audience, two, start action, and three, make people believe your speech possibly.

Persuasion is the act of convincing someone to do something, such as to persuade your parents to give you a better allowence. The first goal is to come up with good points for why you deserve a better allowance, such as how you've been more helpful around the house. The second is to compromise your speech so you are able to be more credible and prepared to ask your parents. The third is to finally convince your parents why they should do or think something.
