Smooth muscle under the microscope look spindle shaped and have no bends, either dark or light. Blood vessels are usually oval shape under the microscope. On the other hand, under the microscope, dark and light bands can be observed inside the skeletal muscles. Dark bands are from thick muscle filaments, while light bands are from thin muscle filaments.
