Answer: B is the correct statement. Short-period comets come from some location near the ecliptic plane of the Solar System, and long-period comets come from farther away, with random directions in a spherical distribution around the Sun. 

Explanation: the long period comet originate from the port cloud and it is oriented in all different random angles.

The short period comet originates fro the Kupier belt and it is oriented 30° from the solar system plane( Ecliptic).
