15.0 ( to the nearest tenth )

calculate the distance (d) using the distance formula

d = √(x₂ - x₁ )² + (y₂ - y₁ )²

with (x₁, y₁ ) = (7, - 4 ) and (x₂, y₂ ) = (- 8, - 5 )

d = √(-8 - 7 )² + (- 5 + 4 )² = √(225 + 1 ) = √226 ≈ 15.0
