Together, steve and tom sold 80 raffle tickets for their school. steve sold 14 more than twice as many raffle tickets as tom. how many raffle tickets did each boy sell?

Steve: 2x + 14

Tom: x

Steve   +   Tom = Total

2x + 14 +     x    = 80

3x + 14 = 80

3x = 66

x = 22

Steve: 2x + 14   = 2(22) + 14   = 44 + 14   = 58

Answer: Steve = 58 tickets, Tom = 22 tickets
