Alexis Ohanian is the founder of social networking website, reddit. In his TED talk from 2009, Alexis Ohanian talks about the power of the Internet with the help of memes and their promotion. He discusses what it takes to make memes work for you. Ohanian tells the story about reddit users named a Greenpeace whale avatar “Mister Splashy Pants.” Greenpeace found a marketing campaign in the process. This campaign had an effect which in the end Japanese government drew back from the hunting of humpback whales.
