Josiah has 3 packs of toy animals. Each pack has the same number of animals. Josiah gives 6 animals to his sister stephanie. Then josiah has 9 animals left.how many animals were in each pack?

let the number of animals in each pack be x.
Total number of animals will be 3x
after Josiah gave 6 animals to his sister the remaining animals were:
3x-6=9
thus sloving for x we have:
3x-6=9
add 6 on both sides
3x-6+6=9+6
3x=15
divide both sides by 3
(3x)/3=15/3
x=5
Answer: 
There were 5 animals in each pack
